Environmental Responsibility

Royston Museum Goes Green is our ongoing project to become a more environmentally sustainable organisation.
We are taking responsibility for how our decisions and actions effect the environment and are committed to making conscientious changes to how we operate; from improving our building and changing how we work, to working with others and leading by example. We are making meaningful changes to minimise our impact on the planet and will use our influence to encourage others to do the same.
Use the interactive below to discover some of the changes we've made by click on the pink leaves.
Decarbonising the Museum
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are replacing our ageing gas boiler with two air source heat pumps and a more efficient heating system. This marks a significant step toward reducing the Museum’s carbon emissions and improving energy performance, helping us create a greener future for our heritage.
We are deeply grateful to our funders and supporters for making this transformation possible. Their support enables us to protect our heritage while caring for the planet.
